0300TV

We’ve already run into this website before, but – considering we have a Web section – it’s worth spending some more words about 0300TV. While anybody can put down his thoughts and spread them through WordPress or YouTube today, which is good, it’s still even better to find a medium that is both qualified like a magazine (with an editorial staff and all) and lightweight structured like a blog.

0300TV doesn’t have any cumbersome Flash features, but only a slick and simple template that makes it visually elegant. The site’s also fully adherent to the Web 2.0 standards: apart from the RSS-feed implied by its blog-style interface, you can also subscribe to its Vimeo channel and Facebook group.

But enough with the interface: content’s what counts. The website features interviews and rich articles by external contributors, but a web TV’s kick is the video material, and 0300TV’s specials are the most interesting and promising material on it. Being the staff based in Santiago, Chile, it’s pretty obvious the first one had to be on local issues, while the second special is the one about China that we linked before. You can find “Chile: 1997-2007 Public Works” right here, and in case you missed our other post here’s a reminder.

Together, 0300TV’s videos paint a picture of architecture’s social impact and purposes on street level, with a down-to-Earth documentary cut, and give an unusual perspective on areas of the world that are not necessarily known to the European viewer. Worth keeping an eye on.
